Lee is Nyul Nyul (through his Grandfather) and Kija (through his Grandmother and Mother), from the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Lee spent his childhood and teen years between Derby, Broome and on the Dampier Peninsula in his grandfather’s Nyul Nyul country and his Dad’s Bardi country. With his family, Lee also spent many school holidays and other visits in his grandmother’s and mother’s Kija country around Warmun and Halls Creek.Lee’s role as Program Coordinator works with the project’s Executive, Scientific and Indigenous Governance committees to coordinate the strategic direction of STARFISH; and working specifically with the Chief Investigator – Indigenous Governance (Glenn Pearson) and the Indigenous Governance Council to ensure the effective integration of Indigenous governance across the program of work. Lee also oversees customary program duties of program management and efficiency, research grant administration, finance management and stakeholder engagement.

Lee’s particular areas of interest and expertise are community engagement, business improvement, and program management. Lee has extensive experience in Aboriginal community development, cultural governance and program management, Aboriginal economic development, native title and business development.
